Did Ben Hogan have a secret?

Don’t think so.

Question what did he do then?

Myswingevolution states he swings like Hogan did, and my reply would be, well Hogan went down at impact, your going up, not the same then.

You react to force in a golf swing the same way you train to ride a bike and after a while if all you need to do is react you have superb ball striking. Ben Hogan, Moe Norman for sure had that.

10 weeks later I arrived at a finished template instruction set.

Its a bit like having 100 puzzles and you only have one image to fit the bits which means 99 puzzle bits isn’t fitting. A lot of work then needed to make the bits fit the framework.

Tuesday the 4 of July 2017 I understood my old reference, once identified I knew this I don’t do anymore. Then as expected I had to start over so I did on Thursday the 6 July as I applied the advice I did for Hans a couple of weeks ago.

I started to have good swings.

Played and had my best round in years and my ball striking went to something extraordinary. The day after today that is I analyzed a bit what I did do and how it worked and its a simple reacting to the force movement. Knowing that also helps to keep on doing that reacting and build a habit out of it. Explaining the movement and what to do is next.

Copy or mimic is easy but then you don’t often understand the forces people react to especially if they have a ball striking that people notice as extraordinary.

I guess its the same with people that are happy all the time as they don’t really understand other people becoming depressed, sad or down. For others they cant understand how someone is able to do that.

Modeling is a way to look behind the scenes of magic to understand how it works and then train oneself to do magic oneself.

When you don’t know and want to know how to do

Running the template means I can focus solely on what works, adjust what I do but then I may encounter where I don’t know how to do things. Then its time to figure out what to do.

Last night I had that moment.

I watched myself hit a 4i and was thinking ok that’s not it. So what to do then that’s the way to do it?

So I realized something that been bugging me for a while and then as I understood I had to go outside and test things and then I had a problem.

So How do I do that when I cant do that?

I apply variation of feedback. Your about to re-learn what to do but to do so you want to test a few variations, attend the feedback and adjust what your doing when the difference is there to know what to do. Then applied variance takes place again until the shoe fits when the movement works so one is doing it.

One then can do it, knows how to do.

However at this point one may even not realizing that as it may not feel, correct.

Your old habits, familiar feelings comfort may with how memory works interfere and draw you away from what works.

It happens to everyone. As I watched the 4i mechanics I was like, ok I reversed back here, need to fix that even though I started to alter and change my back swing I knew I needed to explore something as I wasn’t doing things properly.

So last night I had this moment and got the message, I need more variance and fix that as I finally understood this what I did do, wasn’t working as it should.

I discovered something new.

Today becomes then a day at the range to uncover the missing information as my job or practice today isn’t about hitting a ball but to relate to what I am suppose to do and discover that and then I find how it works out with the ball.

Technique vs feel and what happens and the path to self corrections

Watching PGA golf trainers means they teach with a technique focus or even explain what’s going on but neither of those makes it doable to do for you.

It just makes you have information.

Your then satisfied as you think you understand but in reality your not. You then find that out on the range and when playing and start to believe you didn’t understand the instruction.

Now your blaming yourself when the teaching was lacking.

That leads to a merry go round a never ending search for the magic secret Ben Hogan that some people believe he had.

Now the above video is a typical merry go round, you think its good and you understand but when testing you cant do it.

More information isn’t the solution.

What we want is to apply the instruction to match what happens so we can feel the difference.

I made a video about the power move for the inside group, it means to isolate the one needed thing people need to feel and master to make a pro level impact. Release happens by itself no need to manipulate the wrists or such.

However one need to feel the difference as when you do, its effortless.
When you do a golf swing its suppose to feel, effortless.

How do explain effortless with more information and even more technical know how what happens when you swing?

Answer is, you cant.

The instruction set is then worthless.

You need to relate the instruction set to can do and identify what your suppose to feel. I know some will say feel is different and it really isn’t.

What typically happens is that people when they swing effortlessly think its wrong due to them are being so sued to feel effort and make slow shitty swings all day for years so your tuned to shit. When your expose to pro level swinging your brain will immediately take this as wrong as it will feel wrong according to your beliefs and information about the subject.

Its why as a scientist I find it important to measure and find the evidence due to then one can correlate what one does to understand that this is how it should feel like. I can lucky enough correlate a lot to Hans and just ask him if he fells this or that and he have confirmed such over the years.

We need better definitions, isolate the movement and feel and then measure with evidence when one does it right and then understand this is how it feels like swinging like a pro, effortless.

Naturally one need to be able to correlate the feel vs measured result achieved and then update ones beliefs accordingly to accept the new found action. I find a lot of people are unable to accept the new result as it doesn’t fit their expected assumed reality what’s true with golf or any other sport for that matter.

The problem then are:

  • To much faith with information
  • To much faith in explaining what to do and technique.
  • Beliefs about what happens that isn’t happening.

Solutions are to understand:

  • Isolate the movement to feel the difference
  • Measure the result one achieved with feel and correlate and accept.
  • Repeat the movement to reach “can do” criteria.

Isolating in that way means once the individual can do it to feel the difference and replicate then they have a set reference to do which then will always work for them.

Sources to instructions

When I develop an instruction it may not be from one source alone but several and I look for those that are ball strikers, good such ones. You want to study good sources people that can do, if they can explain it well or not is secondary at least you know they are doing something that works.

Each improvement I do is put under the microscope and then taken from there and analyzed further to find if I understand the subject better to develop a better instruction. In the recent days I been researching and updated my instruction sets.

Once tested they go trough the same evaluation, as once tested one can either discard them or refine them.

I found the importance to a pro impact release pattern needs to be felt due to if you know that then you can feel if your not doing that.

Your then on the path of self corrections.

If you know what its like then you will adapt to start doing more correct movements.

Once found gravity came to existence

Developing models creating blueprints “templates” and then applying the template “transfer of skills” allows the individual to reach Eureka the Nirvana of golf in this case as I developed such a blueprint.

Once I could do I also knew I could improve the template itself focusing on essence and developing a better instruction to the skill itself.

The Divine right as a Golf God.

The feeling of awesomeness knowing this is now so easy its a bit like cheating and none been able to do it in the history of golf?

Applying template took around 12 sessions to bring into the outcome

To hit like a pro.

To feel the power in ones hand as a God is a diving right.

Naturally as I been an amateur for around 25 years I also built habits that is counterproductive vs what I wanted to do so yes the struggle for golf swings and learning to do is real for us all. Its not a straight road either as I worked in the evenings with video and checks to confirm or change what I did do.

Basically, first session, no power.
Analyze showed me why and I implemented that in the second session, success.

Next to fix the pivot that took a few more sessions “8” and also was a lot of work to identify what to do even if the movement template is known then one need to identify the difference and then apply. That took some doing.

Yesterday I reached that outcome to hit like a pro. It was found and reference could be built.

Today I hit a few at the range even if I was tired, to improve upon previous and a more throw action started to happen. The feeling and experience is obviously vastly different than what I did for 25 years. I increased distance even when the wind was blowing into the trajectory I took notice as I smacked the ball good.

However I can do now.
I don’t need to practice anymore, its a done deal.
I can do.

Next is phase two to further build upon this to play with the pattern to isolate and nuance to distill down the essential bits in the throw and as that is happening the pivot will improve along the way.

I enjoying this as its rare for me to have the time to spend to indulge this way and improving ones golf swing as it also offers insights to improve instruction and why it can be difficult for an amateur to go pro.

To improve from a amateur like swing to a pro one can have a huge difference of distance obviously. You can go from a 220 yards to 300 yards. First obviously that’s a whole different game. Many that learns to do and can do may not even realize they can do it due to it was to easy. Being stuck with previous education is often a hindrance to understanding that learning to do fast is rather easy and simple. However due to the way people think they need to understand before they can do gets in the way well then they become stuck not realizing they can do.

For me yesterday and today was a, can do moment.

I now can do. That means for me I am done I don’t need more practice as every time I go swing its the same. Is it perfect and optimized? Not yet but first task is to realize, I arrived at the destination and then formalize from there what’s next to do.

Learning for some means they miss the train that they actually can do and still think they need to learn a secret or struggle to learn as that’s their history in education. When you understand and realize using measurement and evidence and go, ok can do this, now what?

To get to that point one use quality of feedback to create difference and a good template.

I watched my down swing and took notice of that shallowing out from the top now a classical pro movement and thought well that went the over the top I done for 25 years and this felt so easy to do. It was so easy in fact it felt like cheating.

Talent code and cracking the code

While talent can be said to be skills, the building blocks to create the talent themselves been a mystery a long time and the book by David Coyle showed along some like professor Anders Eriksson with his 10000 hours of deliberate practice that talent is created not a born ability.

No one been able to copy a golf swing from Ben Hogan or anyone else in the history of the game, then I came along and did that with Mike Austin’s motion and transfer that skill to Hans Andersson.

When you know what to do as I do then there is no secret or mystery.

I been an amateur in regard to golf, I play with friends for fun and laughter. Never been concern with pro golf or such. That changed as I met Hans. As he injured himself with his modern golf swing and didn’t want to change I then had to build him a new swing.

So I did.

Talent are skills, trainable such.

Chess is a memory thing, to be better at chess you train memory for positions and can raise your chess rating with a few thousand points that way. You don’t need to think ahead or be creative you need a good memory and knowing chess positions. If you do that you be beating your chess friends easily.

If you believe it is something else when you practice chess then that wont improve your skills or results.

I spent 8 sessions practice the new golf template I developed. In each session I run the cracked code of how to build talent and then add improvement in each session. Golfers normally understand to build a new swing takes 2 or 5 years like Tiger with Sean Foley and then still failing so golfers knows how difficult it is.

To then apply the cracked talent code to the practice as I do allows me to do things faster than anyone else can do in the world.

When you end up with the “can do” criteria then your done.
How fast will that happen then?
It depends.

Most I seen with Hans is 3 weeks when he implemented a movement and that was mainly due to lacking the flexibility and he needed time to adjust for it. Normally its really fast.

  1. You need a good template.
  2. You implement the RBIm talent program for practice
  3. You end up with “Can do”.

Yes it means you be able to swing like Mike Austin did if you apply that template.

You cant replace 50 or so years playing golf due to golf include other skills than hitting a golf ball but at least you have a good solid foundation to start from.

However, if you use the modern swing like thedanplan did then you will fail. Back pain, short hitting and failure no matter how much deliberate practice you do and he had professor Anders Eriksson’s support.

You need a template that’s good not one that suck.

Then your practice will enhance and improve what your doing so you can reach the same skill set Mike Austin had or as someone else had. However what people believe is true like a held off release, a modern swing and then constant back problems and short hitting then you keep on believing that even if someone like Boklov came along with the V-style as people laughed then he won the title and no one laughed anymore as they all changed to the new V-style,same way flosbury flop did in high jumping.

Practice isn’t enough, bad practice is even worse and reason for many to believe in the talent myth. While having a good coach an expert in the field like Monte schienblum isn’t enough as what he teaches isn’t good enough. You end up failing as its to difficult to do consistently.

Then we move into the performance arena in why some people are able to do better than others consistently those elite level performers’. How do you practice that?

By being specific about what to do?
Intense focus then wont help.
Direct Feedback wont help.
Discomfort or comfort wont help either.
Coaching from experts wont work either.

A new approach is then needed.

Ask, can one do those to required skill level?
if so, the solution isn’t skill in its technical nature.

Golf is distance control, that means judgement of distance and execution of distance needs to match.
That’s easy.

To bring out ones precision control to be able to repeat ones performance each time however isn’t.

Analyzing performance and mind focus shows people are tracking a target and executing based upon external raw data. Assumption wrong in science, there is no external data.
New revision created based on observation of performances in the zone.

New model derived to be tested.
Test: Solution worked.
Implementation of model is next.

Understanding the difference
to create distinctions of difference is the main goal in any practice.

To develop such models one need to understand the essence of the skill in context and then be able to check difference and teach that difference to someone so they can experience that vs whatever they been doing previously.

A template then with a instruction set to match allows a faster route to “can do”.

How much time to improve? or talent building

It depends due to feedback of difference is different.

My first session informed me a lack of power, so that was easy to fix as I made adjustment coming home after watching on video why that was. Second session showed me power was there.

That was an easy solution. Improvement was good.

Next was to create a better pelvis movement based on throw mechanics and that’s taken 3 more sessions. In my terms, that’s reasonable time spent to change the movement one does to a new one. I haven’t done the new one before so making the body able to do that obviously is a hurdle of new. Today it felt like progress as I started to do what I wanted but was on and off and it wasn’t optimal. I got to a point where I felt like I could start swinging with the movement.

So once I have progress, and can swing with the movement then next step towards a working movement is close. Once you get there then you can just do it, its then done.

How long that takes has to do with quality of feedback or what some call deliberate practice. The progress often goes slowly at first then accelerate as your started to build enough feedback and crescend when your able to do.

  1. Want to improve skill, bridge the gap between knowledge and doing.
  2. Define new and old action.
  3. Utilize the feedback for difference.
  4. Do I do more of the new or continue to do the old?

At some point frustration happens as your brain is firing to accommodate the learning and when you become slightly excited its when your brain has started to kick in the new direction.

That process can take a few minutes or be longer depending what quality of feedback is used. I use the reference “can do” once that happens practice is done and over as you can do. Before you can do your learning take time to bridge the gap and how fast that happens is depending on how good your quality of feedback is.

Usually you be highly focused on the task itself (deep focused stare) to isolate the movement itself due to your brain cant separate one (old/new) from one another. Once your able to do that your then able to improve massively in a short timeframe.

Then the step to “can do ”isn’t far away.

while this is a few years ago the swing movement was changed to “can do” in a single session and the -4c wasn’t helping either.

Learning faster

The idea is really simple, do more and add feedback for improvement.

So for example, make a golf swing movement, then video it, check for positions and evidence of doing the movement properly, then adjust accordingly to the model, do it again.

Normally 3 to 5 such is enough to start make the new to work.

I do 2, one with whatever the state the swing is in and then check and then do a new one with the feedback implemented. If improved I then stop for the day.

Live – action- role – play or LARP is the way this works.

Its simple and fast.

Sure you can then add to that using definitions, the model applied and various focused attention markers as I do to aid the process but the overall usage wont be different.

Test again.

In a few days your movement has been built and works.

The things you do

What do people use their skills for one can ask.

I sit in front of the computer a lot so for me comfort with sitting and what else and a highly effective state of experience. So I just made sure doing that allow me a high functional state.

In the sofa I wind down a bit relaxing.

One can say you optimize to make whatever you do more efficient. Issue can be your not coming from a good point, like the golf swing for example even if you work at it wont matter as it will break down due to modern theory got things wrong.

You then need to adapt a new tactic a new strategy but if you don’t believe in that you use talent code stuff the 10k hour stuff to practice and practice so many hours believing in something that wont work.

Now and then doing the same thing over and over again is insane.

But some will say the book what about the book the science professor the 10k guy saying you need to deliberate practice and I say, he don’t understand this. ts like golf trainers 4 of them working with Tiger and none changed his core body mechanics, none and I know why.

You want to understand.

You want to have a solid basis for effective improvement to increase efficiency.

Otherwise increasing from the standpoint wont be optimized. Golfers struggle constantly due to their swing changes from day to day or swing to swing and they don’t know why, so they go back to fix it again and again and it just repeats itself.

Same thing with experience we have, things we do in daily life, if you have a solid basis for what your doing increasing efficiency is a good thing and if one needs to optimize one may need a new strategy or such to be better at it.

But that area of field the professor know nothing about, David Coyle same thing breaking down the talent into building a model from building talent, I did, its one of those I built over the period of research. That allows me to condense what I am doing into direct element of talent instead of waiting for someone to tell me, I need to practice when you do this model that isn’t needed.

But it also goes against conventional beliefs people have, including professors.

This is btw highly precision work one I cant disclose in a written word or even when I do this on video as you cant see what’s going on anyhow, not even the one experience it wont be able to except they will notice the result.

Then obviously to accept that they are now doing something they including others thought impossible?

Yea take some getting used to.

That’s how good I am.

Is there a Optimal Godlike learning strategy out there?

I just call it RBIm.

One ask, so what is it that I would want to learn?

Now this opens up a can of worms.

That’s to generic.

So let specify it a bit.

I want to learn to juggle, or to make a great food for dinner or such.

What’s the result of making it that way then?

Most would now picture a perfect outcome.

That’s another can of worms.

Perfect wont be there as first your likely to fail due to you cant do it yet.

Make dinner means your doing the same food for a few weeks to improve the recipe, the ingredients until it taste the way you want it to. Knowing that ahead of time isn’t the same as actually doing it and you will fail before your able to do it.

Most however get stuck on the fail part and give up thinking but what about my perfect outcome?

That’s a memory.

Your brain cant do memories that way as its not connected in reference to contextual experience. yes it’s a “thing of sorts”.

That’s why for example Robert Dilts need to come and see me and talk about this stuff he does so he can update his encyclopedia of NLP. I digress tho.

Once you have an idea of the result you want, then its all about connecting that created memory to reality in experience. One measure this by making the behavior to count for what’s going on.

Most believe they need more information, books, tapes, videos, workshops and whatever else. What you need is more failures.

That has feedback built in within that.

First dinner taste funny, or is to loose to shady and texture isn’t right so next you locate why that is, adjust and do another dinner with the adjustment until the texture is right.

But that isn’t so advanced?

No, it isn’t.

People don’t notice they progress what they measure is what they believe is suppose to happen vs what actually does happen.

Now that’s another can of worms right there.

If your not tracking what happens vs what you believe is happening then how can you even think it will work ever?

While I am all for hope, faith and whatever else it wont be useful to do it those ways as your doing things (Practice) and ignoring the obvious (you can do it already) and then fail to note you already mastered the skill and achieved the result.

So the golfer that now can do something he didn’t believe he could in 2 minutes (50 yard increase driver) then reacted by saying that’s impossible even when he was the one doing the impossible.

15 minute range session the amateur golfer are making perfect swings each time with fabulous contact and becomes so high he can hardly walk. To then stay with the new was a challenge but his handicap went down during summer.

When you have a dyslexic and then in 2 minutes they aint dyslexics anymore they don’t understand what the issue is but their parents, teachers and professors cant believe it did happen as you know dyslexia is for life without solution.

They didn’t notice the feedback that was there, they didn’t measure the progress that was actually happen right in front of their eyes even though I had parents that cried of relief due to their child now wasn’t dyslexic anymore. They didn’t care what I did as it, worked.

So learning is more about how you measure or not the progress happening vs what you believe should happen or whatever you assume happens.

When I do a class and people say ok that was easy what’s next, it means they learned to do a highly complex skill without understanding how they did learn it, they still don’t understand what they have got as value and why I have to spend 2 days doing feedback due to them wont understand that they already can do something they couldn’t, five minutes ago.

For them they believe they always could do it when in fact they could not.

Not understanding that will collide with the cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias people have about learning which obviously gets in the way unless taken care off.
