While not being a certified physic biomechanical trainer I assume if the body is going in several directions then timing will be an issue.
He also need to arise his spine at impact. If the body is going one direction, timing is easier. if it has to go two directions timing is more difficult. If the spine needs to move up at impact then I know one thing, that’s difficult to do consistently…
